[Notice] Double Major Admission Process for the Fall Semester of Academic Year 2025
※ Pursuant to Article 35 (Double Major) of the Academic Regulations and Chapter 6 (Double Major) of the Academic Operations Regulations
1. Eligibility Requirements
A. Major Assignment
-
Students must have been assigned a first major.
B. Enrollment Requirement
-
Students must have completed at least three semesters of enrollment.

Transfer students must have completed at least two semesters of enrollment.
C. Current Enrollment Status
Applicants must be enrolled during the Spring Semester of Academic Year 2025.

Enrollment period for the current semester: March 1 – July 31, 2025

A leave of absence is not permitted during the application semester. However, students may take a leave of absence during the semester in which they begin their double major (Fall Semester 2025).

Students who take a leave of absence during the application semester after applying for a double major will be disqualified (application withdrawn). This also applies to students who take a leave of absence after admission results have been announced.

Students currently participating in or scheduled to participate in a Korea University international exchange program during the relevant semester (including summer sessions) are not eligible to apply. Examples include Overseas university exchange programs, KU-GLP, Internships,Other international exchange programs
For KU-GLP participants, application is permitted only if they do not request academic credit recognition for the program.

Students admitted in 1997 or 1998 may apply only within the same academic division as their first major (Humanities or Natural Sciences). No restrictions apply to students in Arts or Physical Education programs.
D. Restrictions
Students who have already been accepted into a Dual, Interdisciplinary, or Student-Designed Major, as well as applicants for Engineering Accreditation, are ineligible to apply.
1) If a student who has already been accepted into a Second Major (Dual, Interdisciplinary, or Student-Designed Major) or an applicant for Engineering Accreditation wishes to reapply, their withdrawal/cancellation process must be completely finalized by Friday, May 9, 2025.
2) Giving up a Second Major (Dual, Interdisciplinary, or Student-Designed Major) after acceptance and reapplying is permitted only once. If a student reapplies and fails, they must complete an Intensive Major (Advanced Major).
2. Application Procedure
A. Online Application
Access:
KUPID Portal → Academic Records/Graduation → Academic Records → Double Major Application

Select the desired college/division and department.

Complete the study plan (if required).

Click "Save Draft" and review the application details.
-
Click "Final Submit" to complete the application.
B. Important Notice
The application is not complete unless "Final Submit" is clicked.
Applications saved only as drafts will be automatically canceled after the application period closes.
C. Applicants to the Division of Design and Fine Arts
Applicants must clearly specify their intended field (Design or Fine Arts) in the study plan.
3. Selection Process
A. Evaluation Criteria
Selection is based on the criteria established by each department, which may include Academic performance, Interviews, Study plans and Other department-specific requirements
(Please refer to the attached guidelines.)
B. GPA Calculation
The cumulative GPA used for evaluation includes all courses completed through the previous semester, including courses with grades of F.
4. Application Period
A. Application Dates
May 14, 2025 (Wed), 10:00 AM – May 16, 2025 (Fri), 5:00 PM
B. Submission Deadline
Applicants are strongly advised to complete their applications at least one to two hours before the deadline, as system errors may occur during portal submission.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances. System-related issues will not be considered valid grounds for late submission.
5. Announcement of Results
A. Date and Time
June 30, 2025 (Mon), 5:00 PM (Tentative)

6. Important Notices
A. Starting from the entering class of 2004, the Second Major is mandatory. Students must complete one of the following: an Intensive Major (Advanced Major) within their First Major, or a Second Major (Dual Major, Interdisciplinary Major, or Student-Designed Major). (Note: Completing a Second Major is optional for transfer students with a bachelor's degree).
B. An Intensive Major within the First Major is identical to the existing single-major track.
C. Students will officially enter their Dual Major starting from the semester immediately following the application semester.
D. The School of Law, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, Department of Cyber Defense, College of Pharmacy, and Contract Departments do not select students for Dual Majors.
E. Ineligible Departments due to Departmental Closure: College of Health Science, College of Education, and College of Information and Communications.
1) Students belonging to the College of Health Science: Students entering between the 2006 and 2013 academic years cannot apply to other existing departments or newly established divisions within the College of Health Science.
2) Students from other colleges: When applying to the College of Health Science, students can only apply to newly established divisions (applying to existing/legacy departments is not permitted).
3) College of Education: Application to the Department of Computer Science Education is not permitted.
4) College of Information and Communications: Application to the Division of Computer and Communication Engineering is not permitted. (Students may apply to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering under the School of Information).
F. Certain departments/divisions require the submission of a Statement of Purpose (Study Plan). Applicants must review the details in the attached file "Guidelines for Dual Major Admissions for the Second Semester of the 2025 Academic Year," and if applicable, write and submit a Statement of Purpose (within 1,000 characters per section).
G. Applicants must thoroughly review the detailed guidelines for Dual Major admissions (attached file) before applying.
H. Inquiries regarding student quotas and credit requirements for the department/division of application should be directed to the administrative office of the respective college/division.
