[Notice] Biological Safety Training for Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) and Training Completion Requirements

  1. Korea University (Anam Campus) is scheduled to undergo the 2025 On-site Inspection of Research Facilities Handling Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) for Testing and Research Purposes by the Ministry of Science and ICT in September 2025.

  2. In accordance with relevant regulations and to strengthen biological safety management on campus, the Research Ethics Center will conduct biological safety training for university researchers. We kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that principal investigators responsible for biosafety research facilities and all research personnel complete the training.

A. Training Title

2025 Biological Safety Training for Living Modified Organisms (LMOs)
(Visiting/On-site Training Program)

B. Eligible Participants

1) Users of LMO Biosafety Research Facilities

All researchers who access biosafety research facilities, including Faculty members, Graduate students, Undergraduate students and Other research personnel

※ Users of LMO biosafety research facilities are required by law to complete two hours of biological safety training annually (January 1 – December 31).

※ Even if all members of a laboratory have already completed the 2025 biological safety training, at least one representative from each laboratory is requested to attend in preparation for the upcoming on-site inspection.

※ Please refer to the attached list of LMO biosafety research facilities reported as of June 5, 2025.

2) Staff Managing Shared Research Facilities

Including personnel responsible for facilities where LMOs are stored, such as shared equipment rooms, greenhouses, laboratory animal facilities and other related facilities
