Notice on Reporting Reserve Forces Deferment (Transfer-In) for the Fall Semester 2025
1. Eligible Students and Reporting Period

※ Undergraduate graduates who are continuing directly into a Korea University graduate program must submit their transfer-in report during the new student reporting period.
2. Reporting Method
A. Returning Students

Submit a Reserve Forces Transfer-In (Deferment) Report when applying for reinstatement through the university portal.

Alternatively, use KUPID → Information Services → Reserve Forces Transfer-In (Deferment) Report.
B. New Students
-
After student records are created (September 1), access KUPID → Information Services → Reserve Forces Transfer-In (Deferment) Report and complete the report.

※ Students who remain affiliated with Korea University after graduation, completion of coursework, or leave of absence, as well as those whose academic status changes during the semester, must submit a Reserve Forces Deferment Cancellation Report (student reserve forces status termination).

※ Students who are not eligible for student reserve forces status but submit a transfer-in report and complete training as student reservists may be subject to legal action under Article 15, Paragraph 12 of the Reserve Forces Act for improper deferment reporting intended to reduce training hours.
※ Graduate students employed at organizations that maintain their own workplace reserve forces units should report through their employer and are not eligible for university transfer-in reporting.
※ Students affiliated with the College of Medicine must report to the Korea University Anam Hospital Medical Reserve Forces Unit.

4. Administrative Notes
A.

Transfer-in processing will not be completed if military service information (e.g., military service number) is entered incorrectly.

Do not submit a report while still on active duty or within two weeks of discharge, as discharge information may not yet have been transferred from the military to the Military Manpower Administration.
B.

Students who fail to report during the designated portal reporting period will not be assigned to the first round of reserve forces training for the Fall 2025 semester (September 17–30) due to statutory notification deadlines.

After the reporting period, reports may be submitted by mail, fax, or in person.

After transferring to student reserve forces status, students should update their phone number and email address in the Reserve Forces website → My Information section to receive training schedules and other notifications.
