** Notice of Revision to the Learning Ethics Guidelines **
Korea University established the Learning Ethics Guidelines on March 1, 2013, in order to uphold the value of education and foster a healthy academic community.
We would like to inform you that the Guidelines have been revised effective October 1, 2025, to reflect changes in the educational and social environment.
Students are encouraged to review the revised Guidelines and comply with them throughout all learning activities.

Learning Ethics Guidelines

Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of these Guidelines is to establish standards for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of education and fostering a distinguished academic community by defining the fundamental competencies and responsibilities related to learning for students of Korea University (hereinafter referred to as the “University”).
Article 2 (Definitions)
The definitions of the major terms used in these Guidelines are as follows:
- “Learner” refers to a student who participates in any form of educational activity conducted by the University for the purpose of learning.
- “Faculty Member” refers to full-time faculty, non-tenure-track faculty, and lecturers who provide education to learners at the University.
- “Learning Ethics” refers to the virtues, attitudes, and related conduct that learners are expected to uphold throughout all aspects of completing the University curriculum, including attending classes, preparing and submitting assignments, taking examinations, and interacting with faculty members.
Article 3 (Scope of Application)
These Guidelines apply to all learners receiving education at educational institutions affiliated with the University.
Article 4 (General Obligations)
① Learners shall actively participate in all learning activities with diligence in accordance with the University's mission and educational philosophy.
② Learners shall pursue creative academic inquiry based on moral sensitivity as educated members of society receiving higher education.
③ Learners shall faithfully fulfill commitments made with faculty members or fellow students in relation to educational activities.
④ Learners shall respect the dignity of faculty members and fellow students and observe basic courtesy.
⑤ As members of the academic community, learners shall uphold academic integrity and faithfully follow the University's AI Usage Guidelines.
Article 5 (Preparation for Learning)
① Learners shall carefully review course syllabi and related materials provided by faculty members and thoughtfully select courses that align with their academic interests and future goals.
② Learners shall prepare for classes with sincerity by reviewing and studying course materials in advance to actively engage in each class session.
Article 6 (Attendance and Disruptive Conduct)
① Learners shall make every effort to attend scheduled classes without absence.
② Learners shall not interfere with the learning rights of fellow students by arriving late or leaving during class sessions.
③ Learners shall not engage in fraudulent attendance-related practices (e.g., proxy attendance).
Article 7 (Learning Attitude)
① Learners shall take an active role in all class activities and strive to fully understand the content delivered by faculty members.
② Learners shall actively participate in class discussions and respond to questions in order to develop their understanding and insight regarding course subjects.
Article 8 (Assignments)
① Learners shall secure sufficient time to complete assignments and strive to produce creative and meaningful work.
② Learners shall submit assignments that they have prepared honestly and independently. All cited materials (including books, academic papers, internet resources, and AI-generated content) must be accurately referenced without alteration or distortion, and learners shall comply with AI usage policies provided by the instructor.
③ In collaborative learning situations, learners shall responsibly complete their assigned tasks, avoid causing difficulties for other team members, and make every effort to achieve results satisfactory to the entire team.
Article 9 (Examinations)
① Learners shall understand the purpose and significance of examinations required in a course and prepare adequately for them.
② Learners shall not use unauthorized materials or aids for academic misconduct during examinations, nor request or pressure other learners to provide assistance.
Article 10 (Course Evaluation)
Learners shall participate sincerely in course evaluations to contribute to the improvement of course quality and provide thoughtful feedback regarding strengths and areas for improvement.
