[Announcement] 2026 Spring Semester Double Major Selection Procedure

  • Relevant regulations:

  • Article 35 of the Academic Regulations (Double Major)

  • Chapter 6 of the Academic Administration Regulations (Double Major)

  1. Eligibility

a. Students must have been assigned to a first major.

b. Students who have completed at least 3 semesters (or at least 2 semesters for transfer students).

c. Must be enrolled in the 2025 Fall Semester.

  1. Enrollment period for the semester: March 1 – July 31

  2. Students may not take a leave of absence during the application semester. Leave of absence is allowed starting from the semester of admission to the double major after acceptance.

  3. Students who take a leave of absence during the application semester will be disqualified (application will be canceled). This also applies even if leave is taken after acceptance.

  4. Students participating or scheduled to participate in international exchange programs during the semester (e.g., overseas exchange, KU-GLP, internships) are not eligible.

    • KU-GLP participants may apply only if they do not apply for academic credit recognition.

  5. Students admitted in 1997 or 1998 may apply only within the same academic track (humanities or natural sciences). No restriction for arts majors.

d. Students who have already been accepted into a double major, interdisciplinary major, student-designed major, or engineering certification program are not eligible.

  1. Students must cancel prior acceptance by November 10, 2025 (Mon) if they wish to reapply.

  2. Students who reapply after canceling prior acceptance may do so only once; if they fail again, they must complete an intensive major.

  1. Application method

a. Portal (KUPID) → Academic Affairs → Academic Information → Double Major Application

  1. Select target college/department and write study plan

  2. Click “Save temporarily” → review → click “Final submit”

b. Application is not completed unless “Final submit” is clicked. If only saved temporarily, the application will be automatically canceled after the deadline.

c. Students applying to the Department of Design must specify the track (Design / Art) in the study plan.

  1. Evaluation method

a. Based on each department’s criteria (grades, interview, study plan, etc.).
b. GPA includes all courses taken up to the previous semester (including F grades).

  1. Application period

November 12, 2025 (Wed) 10:00 – November 14, 2025 (Fri) 17:00

Applicants are advised to complete submission at least 1–2 hours before the deadline due to possible system errors. No late submissions will be accepted.

  1. Result announcement

December 30, 2025 (Tue) 17:00 (tentative)
Results will be posted on KUPID → Bulletin Board → Notices (Academic Calendar).

  1. Important notes

a. Students admitted from 2004 onward must complete either an intensive major, double major, interdisciplinary major, or student-designed major (except transfer students, for whom it is optional).

b. Intensive major is equivalent to the traditional single major system.

c. Students begin the double major from the following semester after acceptance.

d. Certain majors do not accept double major applicants, including Law, Medicine, Nursing, Cyber Defense, Pharmacy, and contracted departments.

e. Some colleges/majors are restricted:

  • College of Health Science: no internal transfer for certain admission years; limited eligibility applies.

  • College of Education: Computer Education not eligible.

  • College of Information & Communication: Computer & Communication Engineering not eligible (must apply via College of Informatics Computer Science instead).

f. Some departments require a study plan (up to 1,000 characters per section). Refer to attached guidelines.

g. Applicants must carefully review the attached official guidelines.

h. Admission quota and credit requirements must be confirmed with each department office.
