- It aims to cultivate talented individuals who will lead the rapidly growing biomedical science industry and emerging interdisciplinary medical science fields as key drivers of future development.
Human Health Designer, School of Biosystems and Biomedical Sciences
Humanity has continuously pursued a healthy and happy life. Biosystems and biomedical sciences seek to understand the fundamental principles that sustain life and apply them to improve human life, while developing scientific methods that can be utilized in industry. Accordingly, the School investigates biological phenomena at microscopic and analytical levels such as cells and molecules, and based on this, conducts comprehensive research on biological diversity, identification of disease-causing factors influenced by genetic and environmental conditions, biomarker-based diagnostics, and the development of drugs and cell therapies. It also integrates key Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence to innovate biohealth industry platforms, ultimately improving quality of life while contributing to disease prevention and health promotion.
Fields of Study
Biological phenomena, which form the basis of health, are highly complex and cannot be fully understood without grasping the interactions within living systems. Therefore, studying life requires not only knowledge of fundamental disciplines such as biology, physics, genetics, and molecular and cellular biology, but also a comprehensive understanding of applied fields such as neuroscience, the human microbiome, oncology, immunology, nutritional science of disease, and stem cells. Biosystems and biomedical sciences explore and educate on life phenomena across multiple scales—from molecular levels to large population systems—to interpret biological principles and understand the relationships between organisms and their environments.
